What is the highest frame ever recorded?
The maximum break possible, without fouls, is 147 - comprised of 15 reds, 15 blacks and then the six colors (known as a maximum). Here are some of the records related to scoring a maximum (these results are current at July 2007)
- The record for the most maximums in official competition is eight by Stephen Hendry. He also holds the record for the most 147s in both competition and practice matches. He has made 191 practice match 147s. A close second is Willie Thorne with 190.
- The first televised 147 was by Steve Davis.
- The youngest televised 147-break is by Ding Junhui completed it during the Masters Tournament 2007 aged 19 years.
- The record for the most 147s during a single session is held by Adrian Gunnell, who made three 147 breaks in four frames in 2003.
- Ken Doherty is the only player to have had a televised final black miss on a 147 attempt, which occurred at the 2000 Masters final.
